HOMEOPATHY, NUTRITION, IRIDOLOGY & REIKI in Southend-on-Sea, Essex Q What advice can you give me to keep me healthy during the coming winter months?
A By far the best way to prevent illness is to have constitutional treatment to promote good health, but I give below some ideas for self-help.
Aconite 30c. For cold and flu symptoms that come on very suddenly or after being out in cold, dry winds. Associated symptoms would be fear and anxiety and the symptoms are worse before midnight.
Arsen Alb 30c. Flu-like symptoms accompanied by restlessness that are worse between midnight and 2am. The person will drink sips of water little and often and there may be accompanying diarrhoea and/or vomiting.
Gelsemium 30c. For that dull, heady feeling that comes with a cold. Flushed face and heavy eyes. Shivers up and down the spine and a feeling of weakness.
Nat Mur 30c . A great remedy when the cold begins with plenty of sneezing and the nose runs like a tap then becomes stuffy afterwards.
Nux Vomica 30c. The patient feels very chilly and as though they are suffering from a hangover and would be sensitive to both touch and noise. The throat is scratchy
Rhus Tox 30c. Another remedy where the person is very restless but feels better for moving around and being wrapped up wamly. Complaints are usually worse for the damp weather.
Q How does homeopathy work?
A It works on the principle of treating like with like. Just imagine what it is like when you cut up an onion - you get watery eyes and a stuffy nose, just as though you had a cold. The homoeopathic remedy Alium Cepa (made from the red onion) is used as a treatment for a cold with those type of symptoms.
Q Can homoeopathy be taken by pregnant women?
A Yes but I would recommend that qualified advice is sought.
Q Can I take homoeopathy alongside medicines prescribed by my GP?
A Yes you can, but it is wise to seek treatment from a qualified practitioner who will monitor your progress.
Q What illnesses can be treated with homoeopathy?
A Homoeopathy works on the basis of treating the symptom picture presented by the patient so can be used to treat a wide variety of illnesses irrespective of their conventional names.
